Fun and Energetic Nanny Needed on UWS

A wonderful family, on the Upper East Side Manhattan is looking for a  playful, fun, and engaging nanny for their two children ages 9 and 7. The ideal candidate for this position will be proactive, warm, calm, outgoing, and genuinely enjoy spending time with children. A playful personality with a firm and directive approach will be the key to a successful relationship within this family.

Job Detail 

This position is a live-out or in position:

  • This is a full-time, live-out position.

  • The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 2 PM - 10 PM.  Overnight coverage on Friday evenings a few times a year and some Saturday evening coverage on occasion. The family pays for 90 hours per two-week period whether or not they use all of those hours (they expect that to be an extremely rare occasion). 

  • In the summer, the family is in Rumson, NJ, and would like to have a few days per week of coverage. It's approx 90 min of commute and we can be flexible on how to arrange it. There is a pool, so swimming is required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • All positions are paid gross with overtime. This position is $25-$35hour, or $75k+/year in annualized earnings. In addition, there are PTO and Paid federal holidays. Paid vacation and MetroCard.

  • Uber fares reimbursed for any evening commute home past 8:00 p.m

  • 1 day for MLK Day

  • 1 day for Presidents' Day

  • 5 days for Spring Break

  • 1 day for Memorial Day

  • 1 day for Independence Day

  • 1 day for Labor Day

  • 1 day for Yum Kippur

  • 1 day for Indigenous People's Day

  • 3 days for Thanksgiving (Weds-Fri)

  • 6 days for Christmas Eve through New Year's Day

  • In addition to these times, any additional vacations that the family schedules where they do not invite you to come along for childcare will be offered as additional paid time off.  If the family wishes to invite you on a trip for child coverage, a mutually agreeable arrangement will be discussed at that time to determine an appropriate hour count (and overtime) based on the situation.

  • You will be provided with ten additional days of paid time off with up to three of them taken during the school year and the remainder taken during the summer.  It is understood that you will use reasonable efforts to avoid any elective time off during the first month of each school year and you will provide reasonable notice for any days that you seek paid time off.

Start Date: This is a long-term role, and the position starts July 2021 or as soon as the family can find the right candidate. 

Travel- If you start in the summer. You will be required to come to Rumsen, NJ during the week for 3-4 days. Will be discussed prior to starting. 

Position Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety first—always.

  • Follows parents’ approach to childcare and embraces family parenting style

  • Pickup from school and take to after-school activities

  • Assistance at meal-times and ensuring that children eat healthy meals

  • Encouraging children, and assisting, in evening routines of bathing/reading/bedtime

  • Assistance with homework discipline and encouragement of intellectual activities – an interest in math and literature a big plus

  • Facilitate social development, helping to make connections with friends and attending playdates

  • Manage all aspects of children’s property with utmost cleanliness and organization – including, meals/snacks and clean-up, hanging clothes, cleaning toys/books,, etc.


US Work Authorization

College education encouraged but not required

Must Swim

Willing to get Covid Vaccine

Minimum of 2-years of professional full-time or part-time childcare experience

CPR and First-Aid certifications

Must take Covid very seriously
