Family Overview:
A warm and welcoming family relocating to Brooklyn Heights is seeking a professional and engaging nanny to care for their two children. The ideal candidate will have experience working with toddlers and pre-K–aged children, as well as a solid understanding of age-appropriate developmental milestones. They should enjoy creating safe, enriching, and developmentally stimulating activities that support the children’s growth and curiosity. Both children follow consistent daily routines: the youngest attends daycare three days a week, and the older child is enrolled in preschool.
The family is seeking someone who is positive, energetic, proactive, knowledgeable, and highly organized. The nanny should be respectful of the family’s parenting approach and able to support their preferred childcare practices. Flexibility is highly valued due to not having other family around. Strong communication and the ability to connect meaningfully with the children are essential. The youngest will require two full days of care each week (Tuesday and Thursday), while the older child will need care during non-school days and hours. Note: The schedule for the older child (Pre-K age) is TBD, potentially ranging from 3 to 5 days of schooling per week (will be confirmed in Jan). Light household tasks, including tidying up after the children and preparing their meals, will also be part of the role. The family strongly values healthy, nutritious eating and maintains a screen-free environment for the children.
Position Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provide attentive, nurturing care for both children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
Plan and lead age-appropriate, engaging activities that support cognitive, emotional, and physical development
Follow each child’s daily schedule, including daycare/preschool drop-off and pick-up when needed
Maintain consistent routines for meals, naps, playtime, and transitions
Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children
Assist with light household tasks related to the children, such as tidying play areas, and managing children’s laundry
Communicate clearly with parents regarding daily activities, milestones, and any concerns
Support the family’s parenting style and approach to discipline, communication, and boundaries
Provide care for the older child during non-school days and hours
Be proactive in creating a positive, engaging, and structured environment for both children
