NEWBORN CARE SPECIALIST

You are about to bring your baby home. You may also be recovering from a difficult birth, navigating breastfeeding challenges, managing older children, running a business, or simply running on no sleep at all. The fourth trimester is one of the most demanding periods of a parent's life — and it is one of the least supported.

A Tiny Treasures Newborn Care Specialist is a trained professional who comes to your home and makes this transition genuinely manageable. Not just for your baby. For your whole family.

Our NCS professionals provide expert infant care, feeding support, sleep foundations, and hands-on parental education from the moment your baby arrives. They work around your schedule, within your parenting philosophy, and with the specific expertise your newborn's early weeks require. When their engagement ends, you are not just rested — you are ready.

How NCS Coverage Works

Every family's postpartum situation is different. TTNA places newborn care specialists across four coverage models so your support matches your actual needs.

  • Night shifts are the most common starting point. Your NCS arrives in the evening, handles all overnight feedings, soothing, and monitoring, and provides a detailed handoff in the morning. You sleep. We handle the night.

  • Day shifts support families during daytime hours, particularly during a parent's birth recovery, in households with older children, or when the most intensive support is needed during a baby's active daytime hours.

  • 24-hour care provides around-the-clock coverage, with your NCS present for a full day and built-in rest periods structured into the arrangement. This is most common in the first one to two weeks home from the hospital or following a complicated delivery.

  • Rota NCS care places two experienced newborn care specialists on an alternating schedule — typically one week on, one week off — providing continuous professional support without a single specialist carrying the full engagement indefinitely. This is the preferred model for families who need extended postpartum care, families with multiples, or households where both parents return to demanding careers quickly after birth.

What is a Newborn Care Specialist?

A Newborn Care Specialist is a highly trained professional specializing in infant care from birth through the first year, with a primary focus on the crucial first 12 weeks to 6 months of development. Their expertise lies in establishing healthy sleep and feeding routines tailored to the baby’s needs and the parents’ preferences:

  • Feeding Support – Whether breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, an NCS helps establish feeding schedules and techniques.

  • Sleep Training & Routines- They are there to assist in developing healthy sleep habits that support long-term rest for both baby and parents.

  • Diapering & Hygiene – From ensuring proper umbilical cord care, bathing, and diapering techniques.

  • Soothing & Infant Development – Providing guidance on comforting techniques and early developmental milestones.

  • Parental Education & Confidence Building – Equipping new parents with essential knowledge for a smooth transition into parenthood.

  • Flexible Care Options: NCS professionals typically work in 20-hour live-in positions or 12-hour overnight shifts, covering 5 to 7 days per week to provide continuous support. Some families hire rotational NCS's so that they have consistant around the clock care.

  • Transition to a Nanny: As the infant develops a structured schedule, responsibilities often shift to a full-time nanny for ongoing care and development. Contact us when you are ready to transition to a nanny.
